The continuing diaries of an Englishman abroad visiting such exotic places as Spain, USA, Malta and heaven knows where. Tagging along are his wife Pauline and daughter Emma.

Everything you are about to read is based on true events and real people. It may have been embellished beyond recognition for a cheap laugh but everything happened to a greater or lesser degree. Apart from the bits I made up. OK, and apart from the jokes. And apart from the fantasy sequences. But all the characters are real, believe me.

Exciting isn't it?

Spain 2002 - Day 10

Tonight’s show is ‘Magic Show – Featuring Eskarim & Luna’.

The poster shows a coloured photograph of a magician grinning, as he drapes a silk cloth around a beautiful and naked blonde young woman.

Suppose we ought to force ourselves to see if this show’s any good,” I sighed to Pauline as I draped my beach towel over the front most table to reserve a place for the performance in thirteen hours time.

According to Ross’s piece of paper, this morning or tomorrow afternoon we can go on a half-day catamaran cruise.

This is it –

Top up your tan the best way possible, cruising up the rugged coastline of the Costa Brava. Throughout this half day you will get a chance to swim and snorkel in the Mediterranean. Beer, sangria and soda is included in the day along with a BBQ of Beef burgers & Sausages”.

Mmmmmm, Mmmmmmmm, Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. What shall we do? For this half day will only cost us £22.50 each if we go this morning and if we book for tomorrow afternoon it will cost us £28.50 each. So let’s see shall we? That’s £90 for the four of us this morning or £114 for a few hours tomorrow afternoon. Beef burgers and sausages are obviously more expensive in the afternoons here on the Costa Brava but why worry about that when you’re on holiday eh? And you’ve always got the opportunity to swim and snorkel in the Med haven’t you? Did we go? Did we hell!

No exclamation marks you see.
